DFM is appointed as the Danish National Metrology Institute (NMI) and contributes to the integrity, efficiency and impartiality of the world metrology system.
DFM is a fully owned subsidiary of DTU, the Technical University of Denmark.
DFM’s scientific research results in new knowledge, measurement techniques, and standards, which support the needs of Danish industry and authorities for accurate measurements. DFM offers high-level calibrations and reference materials traceable to national primary or reference standards as well as training courses and consultancy services within metrology.
DFM disseminate knowledge through participation in a large number of research projects in collaboration with high-tech companies and research institutions.

DFM’s project on Drone metrology is funded by the Danish Agency for Institutions and Educational Grants (GTS performance contract). In this project, DFM focuses on establishing metrological traceability for various drone-based measurement techniques. This includes quantitative dimensional measurements using 2D and 3D camera systems for both large structures (e.g. buildings) as well as for small features like cracks.
Furthermore, DFM will develop reliable and accurate gas sensors for drone applications as well as establish techniques for quantification of corrosion from a drone.
